The Lions have reportedly been shopping that #2 pick without shame. I don't see Millen giving it up for less than a pro-bowl player and a first round pick.
Worthy of note?
Adrian Peterson visited Allen Park this week. Quinn and Russel have visited too, as did Joe Thomas. Calvin Johnson has not.
All the pundits are saying the Lions hold the keys to the top 5 picks, but I think the Raiders do. If they pick Johnson would Millen really pass on Russel?
hmmm

I love Fridays!
When I look back at the draft history in the Millen era it leaves me scratching my head. To me, the drafts do not seem to be indicative of our record.
In 2001, Millen’s first draft ever he took Jeff Backus, Dominic Raiola, and Shaun Rogers; A pro bowl player and two solid linemen.
2002 was probably his worse year, taking Harrington (still in the league), and Kalimba Edwards. In the later rounds he picked up Chris Cash, and Andre Goodman who are still solid players.
In 2003 we were all set to snag Willis McGahee but he blew out his ACL in the national championship game. We took Charles Rogers who everyone had rated as one of the top players in the draft. Rogers didn't make it but I attribute his failure to injury more than anything else. Injuries are part of the NFL and you can't fault the front office for that. However, in the same year we took Boss Bailey who will start at linebacker this year, Corey Redding who is a pro-bowl caliber player, Terrence Holt who signed a sweet deal as a free-agent this year and Artose Pinner who is a solid back in the league.
2004 -Roy Williams (another pro-bowler), Kevin Jones (pro-bowl caliber), Teddy Lehman who could start in the middle this year, Keith Smith (4th round) great pick up who could start, Alex Lewis and Kelly Butler. That was one heck of a draft!
2005 Mike Williams was a bust, Stanley Wilson (3rd) round will start at corner this year, Shaun Codey, Bill Swancutt still add depth. Ok, not a good year.
2006 - Ernie Sims (pro-bowl caliber), Daniel Bullocks (stud starting safety), Brian Calhoun, wasted pick but will be a good back in the league, Jonathan Scottt (5th) round will start one day at tackle and was a steal, Dee McCann and Fred Matua still provide depth; another great year!
So what do we have in Millen’s 6 drafts so far? I’d say 5 pro-bowl caliber players (Shaun Rogers, Corey Redding, Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, Ernie Sims) and a long list of players who are still starting or who are still in the league.
To me, the problem does not seem to have been totally related to the draft. You can write this down, come Monday... the league will be raving about the Lions draft again this year. Hopefully they have the coaching staff in place now to do something with it.
Mmmmmmmmm! I love Cornbread.
