I say we bring it back this year :woohoo1:

First round vs. Orlando. If the Pistons actually play the way they should and can play, this will be a sweep. If they play down to their opponent likethe sometimes do in the first round, it might go 5...

Overall, this year i think has been very good. You say well 53 wins isn't 64, but, we now have a very solid bench and our starter's tanks aren't on empty like the were this time last year, they are actually pretty close to full. I thought flip managed the minutes very good this year, plus Delfino and Maxiell have developed into solid instant energy guys off the bench, even Hunter is still solid. I DEFFINENTLY like their chances this year, this year reminds me a lot of the 04 team.

Also, who needs Ben?? This year's defensive stats were actually better than last year's. Now we actually force teams to play 5 on 5 on the offensive end. C-Webb was the pick up of the year for sure, he was been solid, sometimes great.

They should blow through the east. Miami, Chicago, and Cleveland are tough for sure, but, i can't see those teams taking Detroit in a 7 games series. I think those will all be 6 games series, with Detroit on top.

In the finals, that will be much tougher. Whether it's San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, even Houston, it will be a 6-7 game grind it out series, and Detroit will not have homecourt.

With all that said, i very much like their chances this year. They have the best starting 5 in the league, plus now they have a solid bench. They are hungry and they all want another one for sure this year. They are the favorites in the East, but, they will be underdogs for sure in the finals, and we all know that is when they play best.

You should have a good time. I always enjoy when we played Miami in the playoffs! The Palace was freakin rockin!!!! I couldnt make the Sat or Mon
game so i had to pass. But i will be there later on during the Playoffs.

Anyway, I'd like to see the stones come out real strong and blow Orlando away early.. Seems as the stones dont want to play in the 1st Qtr lately and they have to play catchup. Against the weaker teams they might be able to do it but vs the Cavs, Bulls or Heat and they will have to work really hard to play catch up, and perhaps burn out like last year after the Cleveland series. They had nothing in the tank after playing Cleveland.

But i like their chances. Miami will be tough to get past even with or with out D Wade. Get to the finals and we would most likely be looking at the Mavs. They are a very solid team, they can be beaten, but the stones would have to play a really solid series to beat them. We would be underdogs! The Suns dont scare me and i'd like to play them in the finals.

But if everything comes together for them they have a real good shot at the title. But sometimes they scare me, looking lazy, dis interested, tired.
I a;ways thought that the strong point of the stones was the entire starting 5 and Dice,#6, was the best starting 5(6) in the league. But at times they ALL play like crap. When one has a bad game seems that all to often, they all have a bad game.

The bench might just be a big key for us this year and Saunders looks like
he's getting a lot from the bench and knows the proper spots to use the proper players. Im enjoying watching Maxiell develope, he reminds me of a bull in a china shop...

Yeah, i wondered that myself why there weren't more Piston threads. Face it, the Wings have become the biggest choke artists in the NHL, the Pistons on the other hand play their best in the playoffs and clutch situations. I know this is hockey town, but, the Pistons are, IMO, the team of the town and have been for 4-5 years. Of course, if the Lions make the playoffs ever again, they will become the big thing in town.

As long as Flip Saunders is the coach, they will not win a championship...That said, they lack discipline, they lack focus, and until I see otherwise, one of these younger teams that are more hungry will take them out. And unless Cleveland surprises me, the winner of the Chicago/Miami series IMO has the best chance of coming out of the East...Love the Pistons as always, I just need to see 48 minutes of defense and intensity, because I rarely saw that all year...Once I see the intensity that Larry Brown demanded, I'll believe again...Flip couldn't get it done with a very talented group in Minnesota some of those years, and he won't get it done here...And if I end up being wrong, I will start my own thread admitting I was wrong...

Good point. I think Flip is a good x's and o's coach but dosent know much about motivation. If they lose befor making the finals i wouldnt be to upset
to see him go. But with this group of players anything less than a finals
appearance is a poor season. This is the best group of players Flip has coached, now its time for Flip to bring home another title!!!

Hope you are enjoying it...A different atmosphere compared to Joe Louis Arena...A great time to be had at any Piston game, especially in the playoffs...

Kind of a boring playoff game but at least they won. The only excitement was if they were gonna let Orlando back in the game at the end. Midway thru the 4th qtr the stones got lazy again and started jacking up 20-25ft jumpers and let Orlando back in the game.
But fouling Chauncey is not a good way to win. Putting a 90% FT shooter,
who is great in the clutch, on the line wont win many games.
I see Miami lost to the Bulls today. Man i hope we can play Miami, just the most exciting games vs Miami. Talk about rockin the Palace!!!!

Mel,

How did you make that post already at 9:53?! Were you one of the hundreds that left with about 4 minutes to go? The game got real interesting after that!

I'll agree on the scenery tonight at the Palace!:corkysm55

What a great time of year to be a sports fan in Detroit!!
We should go to the NBA finals, The Wings have a great chance and Lord Stanley's Cup, Tigers are one game out of first in baseball, AND the Lions will be drafting 3 pro-bowlers next Saturday!

Man, looking at the boxscore, the bench has to pick it up. They were playing great by the end of the year, and it allowed the starters to play minimal minutes. Now, it looks like other than Dyess, no one else is producing.

Also, they are going to have to play with more intensity. The firest two games they got by with playing lathargic just because they are much better than Orlando, but, that won't fly in Orlando. Detroit should be able to sweep this team, but, they are notorious for blowing game 3s. If they pick up the intensity on the road, and the bench gets involved, they will have little problems sweeping this team.

Now, NEXT round is when things get interesting. I like how people are, for some reason, writing off Miami. I say Miami wins in 6 and gives Detroit a run for their money ala the last couple years. I think Detroit is a lot more hungry and will have more energy this year, and beat the Heat in 6 or 7. Chicago they will waste in 5......

I still believe the same, prove me wrong Pistonies...They barely stay interested enough to beat Orlando by less than 10...

Da Bulls are putting a whipping on the Heat. Miami better hurry up and solve the puzzle vs the Bulls or this series is over in 4. Miami is making the Bulls look much better than they are. Message to Pat Riley...defense can turn on an offense...and...guarding your perimeter is allowed in the NBA.
Looks like the Bulls are to young and fast for the Heat to keep up. Lets hope Miami can turn this around cause i want the Heat NOT the Bulls to play in the confrence finals!!!
