where to bowfish

im thinking about trying out some bowfishing, i just got a new bow last year and i think it might be fun. I live in Rochester so are there any good lakes to go near here and what time of year should i go? any tips are welcome. thanks

well im not familar with your area but as far as time goes the best time is coming up here in about a month 1/2 or so when the carp will move in to the flooded out areas and shallows to spawn thats when it gets real fun and you can shoot at day or night cause you can see them tailing and swerling but besides that its good all summer long try the shallow weed beds, another geed time is when the gills are on the beds the carp will move up in to the gills beds and feed, good hunting and have fun and be safe

hey i am in a similar boat as you... just rigged my bow out for bowfishing and i dont really know where to start... i heard LSC is the best place to go but i know i wont be able to on those windy days cause i only got a 14 foot alum. i did hear that mother's day is a good guidline to go by as for when the carp start spawning

Saginaw Bay around the first of June......no boat necessary, just waders.

Pontiac lake in waterford has plenty of carp to shoot and they are not hard to find, It is not that big of a lake either so you don't have to worry about wind and waves too much, there are recreational boaters but nothing like lsc.
