Tough game last night. Well played on both sides.Wings probably played well enough to win....some of the bounces didn't go their way. Hank needs to score.

I didn't expect a sweep, I think we still might steal a game at their place!

How about that hit on Phaneuf by Cleary????:yikes:

With a 2 -1 lead, you'd expect the Wings to put the clamp down. But what a bad break when the puck jumped over Lidstom's stick and Iginla gets off a wrister that finds the back of the net.

I think the Wings will adjust and take game 4.

It's always a bummer to see your team lose. But on the flip side, I don't think that anyone actually expected a sweep. Well so far this is going exactly like I predicted. I still think the Wings will win on Thursday and then again at the Joe.

I'm just happy to see big hits, rough play, and fist being thrown in playoff hockey again!!!! That's the way hockey should be.
The wings will take the next game, even with the sea of red.
Go Wings!

P.S. The Senators and Penguins series is good old fashioned hard hitting hockey too. I love it! Without rough play, hockey would just be soccer on ice!

Some pretty pathetic refereeing, if you ask me. McCreary makes my blood boil. Those ticky tack calls were awful. Not saying it cost us the game, but it sure makes it frustrating to watch. I agree tho, I was not expecting a sweep, but that was a tough loss last night after being up 2-1 with every chance to put them away. But with a little help of McCreary  we give up another pp goal, and then the lucky bounce for Iginla and there she goes. Calgary has some serious confidence coming into game 4.

Hopefully the Wings find a way to get more pressure on the net like they did in games 1&2.

Cleary's hit was fantastic. Phaneuf was dazed! What a great play. Cleary has been awesome all series.

What did everyone think of Bertuzzi's return? Sure looked like he spent a good amount of time getting up from the ice. With time, i see him fitting in better. i hope.

McCreary ranks up there with Fraser for me,,, I hate him. Funny thing is,, Bowman never had any problem with McCreary,, even though he seemed to screw the Wings every chance he had:lol: . Iginla's shot was nice but Hasek shoulda had that,,,, RH'ed shot coming in on that angle from the RW,,, I'm still a bit surprised the Flames won a game outta this series.

Some of those calls were HORENDOUS! Come on let em play. This "NHL hooking rule is totally impractical. We don;t even get called for slapping pants in our mens league. These guys are pros and can certainly play through what the stripes were calling last night.

When did the NHL get so sissy? It was due to rule changes after the lockout correct?

ckhanna
04-20-2007, 08:45 AM
Oh but the point of the rule changes were to increase flow and scoring chances!!!! I think they did the total opposite. If the rules were enforced to the way they were meant to be enforced, yes, it would increase flow. But with all the crap calls they are making all it does is slow it down to put the man in the box!! LET EM PLAY!!!!!!!!!

Penalties are killing us in this series right now, both ways. We aren't scoring on the power play, and we are allowing two PP goals per game, that has to stop. The 5-on-3s are not exactly helping either. The Wings can dominate a game if they cut out this crap.

The STUPID calls and 5 on 3's killed us. Still, the Wings had more than an even chance to win this one. They were Oh! for 5 on the power play.
I think if they split up Bertuzzi and Lang they have the answer. Together, neither of them can control the puck. Put Bertuzzi with Zetterberg and Datsuk! Datsuk will have a field day setting those two up all night!

I dunno what to say other than quit finding ways to lose!

Game 5 is the deciding game as far as I am concerned. If they lose it they can make thier golf reservations for Monday 'cause I don't see them winning in Calgary this year.

Im going to go claim my seat at the bar in a few minutes...couple of innings of the tigers to get primed:cool:, then the wings game. I forgot how exciting the last 5 minutes of a 1 goal hockey game was...is there anything more exciting?

I'm SURE that MaClennan is gone for the rest of this year. (at this point, probably only one more game anyway) As far as I'm concerned, it should be AT LEAST twenty games next seasom AND a HEFTY fine! What a bunch of classess hacks.

What a great 2nd and 3rd period by the Wings....Cleary is the man!! Chelios played great, Hank is back and Dom was awesome.

Totally uncalled for play by the Flames in the 3rd, that goalie will be gone for the season most likely(maybe only one game) I used to have a little respect for the Flames their a hard playing team but that was just sick, then to see his teamates slapping him on the back going into the dressing room and then Iginla with his cheap shots(way to act like a Captain) Never ever would you see a Stevie Y, or Joe Sakic act like that. Completly inexcusable as a captain.

I have been watching the playoffs for a long time, and I don't recall ever seeing a goalie swing his stick like a baseball bat and hit someone in the chest!! I am pretty sure this is not "playoff hockey"!!!!! The game is more physical in the playoffs, nobody will argue that, but intentionally trying to hurt someone is not acceptable.

You ask Kipper how he felt about that play after game 6...when he spends the end of his season on his *** in the back of his home net. As for Iginla.. i always thought this guy was a good solid player..but what a punk he is. I Wonder if he will be on the ice at the end of game 6 when they are down 3...

Iginla is nothing more than a whiny little bleep. Seriously what a baby. He should get a game for that stunt on Schneids. I just hope the league sees it the same way I do. I was grilling so I missed Bertuzzi slam Phaneauf, so if anyone has a link to some highlights please let me know. And that move by McClennan was freaking ridiculous.

Am I the only one that was cheering like mad when Iginla got in Nick's face, and was then taken down by Z? Priceless.

 He wasn't "intentionally trying" to hurt him. If he was,,,,, he woulda. That wasn't anything more than a "good slash". Do you recall Ron Hextall trying to shave Chelios' face with his stick??? Now that was NASTY. The only thing Calgary was trying to do was "save face",,,,, they couldn't win the game so they did the next best thing they could.

You could see that mess comin' near the end of the 2nd period. It was getting ugly then. I like to see hard hittin (clean) hockey.... but what Calgary did today was wayyyyyy out of line....the hipcheck by Lebda was clean and the guy he checked hit him with atleast 1 upper cut maybe 2 couldn't tell... and then LEBDA gets a tripping penalty??? ***???
And no penalty on Calgary... makes ya wonder sometimes.
But what the goalie did and then Iginla was totally uncalled for, Playoff Hockey or not... they should be suspended and fined to the max.
RIDICULOUS!!!

Are you kidding me? I will say...the uppercut...i can deal with that. But the slash, You are gonna honestly say you dont think he was trying to hurt someone? If you believe that you didnt play hockey or you were a dirty sob just like Mcllennan[sp]. Slash him on the hands ,legs,back,***...you go 2 hands to the neck/head area you mean to do damage bottom line.

You wont find anywhere in my post where I said that stuff doesnt happen, Its the fact that your calling that playoff hockey. If you were to show a non-hockey fan a clip to show him playoff hockey, is the last 5 mins of that game what you would show him?

Playoff hockey to me is, fast play, great goaltending, finishing checks for all your worth, and lots of power play goals.

I'll answer your first question. I'm bearing down on close to 1000 regular season games and a least a hundred playoff games. And those totals don't include games I've seen on TV. Those are games are "in person". I've forgotten more about hockey then most people can even fathom. I've sat with Bobby Hull more than a handful of times,, and chatted "hockey". I've sat on the vistors bench with Glen Sather, Grant Fuhr, Craig MacTavish, Ted Green, Jari Kurri etc.....,,, I have an "authenic, game worn Yzerman jersey, sweat soaked(when I got it).....,,,,, so,,, anyway. If Iginla gets suspended,, I'll eat my hat. I just don't see it happening. The upper cut on Ledba??? Maybe next time he won't go so "low" with his "hip check". He'll live and learn,,,, don't go for the knee's.

Everyone says all the crap Calgary did was uncalled for,,,, I'll agree with that but anyone that says that's not part of the game is naive and just hasn't seen enough hockey. It bothers me to no end how "yuppied up" the NHL is now.

I'd have to agree with you on this. If you guys think that was bad you haven't seen too many minor league games back in the 80's.

The reason you have all the bs stickwork and cheap shots now is the stance the NHL has taken on fighting. Back in the day when you had a couple of guys wearing a badge on your team, they would drop the gloves and go with whomever pulled bs like we saw today and that was basically the end of it for the game. Could you imagine Marty McSorley just standing there if someone did that to Wayne? The same thing could be said of #24, #26 or others if that happened back in the day to anyone on Detroits' team.

The NHL has become "yuppified" in an effort to get more women and crybabys to watch and to expand it's market. Bring back the way the NHL was in the mid to late 80's!!!!

Any of you guys see the recap show on VS last night? The guy blamed the whole end of the game on the Wings, he said the Wings ran in to Kipper all night and then the low check from Lebda was the final straw. He said they got what was coming to them.

What a joke, ya wouldnt blame the refs at all?

Ryan
