Has anyone come up with a good ideal on how to keep bears off a feeder ment for deer in the fall? I have a few bear in my neck of the woods and they have no problem wrecking a feeder that is placed for deer. In years when someone hunts the property for bear, it seems that the bears stay around in the fall because the deer feed is then available. This year I will have a bear hunter and will be baiting the property. I want to make sure that when October comes around, that the bears don't tear-up a new feeder that I want to put out.

Any pictures of good set-ups or explainations would be appreciated.

We, son and I, take a chain and suspend it between two trees about 10' off the ground. Put a pulley in the middle of the chain and a boat wench to crank the feeder up and down. so far that has worked.

I had many problems with all the bear in my neck of the woods.
I eliminated one last fall.
my feeder is on a 18 foot steel pole cemented in the ground. with a bracket on top that sticks off to the side with a pulley, then I welded a bracket for a boat winch about 9 feet up . I then stand on my 4 wheeler to reach the crank totally bear proof.
oops my bad i am in presque isle u cant feed the deer there. that is how I would do it if u could feed where I am at

http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopost/data/500/100_2644.JPGThis is the way to go.Three trees some cable and a 55Gal drum with a home made pulley system. all I do is hook the sister cable to my 4 wheeler take the slack out disconnect it from the lower eye bolt. back my 4 wheeler till the 1' legs hit the ground. fill it. then pull it back up! and reattach the cable.15'high and totally bear proof!:coolgleam
