D.O.
The Grand River runs through Lansing and gets a few steel head and salmon every year not to mention the bass and walleye fishihg it provides. There are also streams like the Red Cedar and Prarie Creek that are not to far away that you can explore.

My my limited experince...
The trout fishing in lansing is few and far between to say the least. Very few of the steelhead make it up as far as Lansing and the same is true for Salmon.
Huntingfool pointed out the big rivers to try, but without a bit of travel, your options are somewhat limited. There are a few trout ponds in the area if that helps?
There is a lot of good bass fishing, carp fishing, and catfish fishing in the area, but I'm yet to see or talk to anyone with much success in the trout arena in the lansing area.
Good luck and PM me if there is anything I can help ya out with!

We do have pretty good Smallmouth fishing on the Rio Grande, it's even better with a small fly rod. The Rouge is an hour away if you need a fix, but you can find it here all you need to do is look at a good map. Besides small runs of cohos and steel there isn't to much(if any) half way decent trout water closer than a half hour, Welcome to Hell:evil: , Maybe I'll see you around. PM me for local info, I fish here more than often than not.
