This weather will give us less hardy fishermen a break from fishing and time to get set-up for serious fishing, so what are your favorite perch rigs?

i use a type of drop-shot rig for perch under a slip float. i tie a 1/8 ounce tube jig/head on the bottom and a 2" snell and gold long shank panfish hook about 1 foot above it for a minnow.

Nothing beats a perch spreader in open water. Sometimes i will throw out a slip bobber, like at the cross dyke or small jigs in the bays, and usually that produces a bit better than a perch spreader. Usually though, perch spreaders are the top producers. Through the ice, i like having one still minnow pole and one pole with me jigging a rapala/swed pimple/ect.

I make my own perch rigs out of 20 pound florocarbon and 2 (3 in ohio water) #8 octopuse hooks. Once the fish is hooked you never lose it on the way up.
