View Full Version : Electric Fillet Knife
Looking to buy a new electric fillet knife this week since mine just crapped out on me. It was old though :)
I don't want to spend more than 50 dollars. What are your thoughts on this one?
Thank you!

my grandfather buys his at garage sales...
they're usually okay, but then again, he can deal with electric shock pretty well. (keeps his heart pumping strong)

I have the electric fisherman, but the way to go is the Rapala is the way to go. There are 2 different ones one is rechargeable, and the other has two electric adapters. The one with the electrical adapters is around $45 and works great. The electric fisherman is good, but the Rapala comes with a case and is worth the estra money.

I have the rapala knife that plugs directly in to the wall. With the adaptor you lose some power and the knife is more ex[ensive for crap you probably dont need. I have also heard good things about the good old cheap mister twister.

I use the American Angler and had really good luck with it. Used it a long time. I use a round file to sharpen the blades also. Skeeter

Check for the electric turkey knives I think around $15-20 bucks-some have one and or two blades.

I have the Rapala and I would highly recommend it. It comes with two blades a case and can run off three different types of power.
Definitely worth it!
I was leaning toward the rapala one, and I think I am going to go with that one. Thanks for all of the advice and what has worked for you. Now I just need some fish to fillet! Hopefully next week. Got the whole week off!
Thanks,

does the cordless rapala also run off of 110? if so, if the battery craps out, will it run fine off of 110? Anybody know? I've had some rechargeable stuff crap out and not be able to run on 110 with dead batteries.
i have the angler's best cordless and so far so good, though i hate the switch mechanisms on it, i shadetree mechanic'd the safety on, so its now a single switch to turn it on. I do wish they had replaceable batteries on my model though, I think they do offer it now.

I would highley recommand the Mister Twister (yellow/green) electric knife. I purchsed one in 1991 to clean some suckers, and it finally gave out last month. I purchased a new one the next day. The new one cuts so fast that I cut my finger on the first fish I cleaned. Wife just shook her head!

I have one made by Storm which was $20 and works fine. My friend uses a turkey carver. If you have $50 to spend, I think I saw the Rapala for sale for $45. I think you can get a quality knife for well under $45 though.

I have the mister twiter and regular rapala. Mister twister cuts faster than the rapala. The cord on the rapala is 12 or 15 feet long, twister cord is short and coiled but when I need a new one it will be the twister that ill buy probably not any time soon.
