Is it possible to put a bigger memory card that would allow a person to hold all the U.S roads on the E-trax Unit. Right Now the card can only hold a few states, where i would like to put more on for travveling purposes. They sell a memory card at Garmin but what would be the difference than going to the local electronics stare and purchasing one there for about 1/2 the cost?
Thanks in advance

the model of your eTrex. Some, like the basic eTrex has no mapping memory. Others like the Venture have 1mb built in (no card), the Legend has 8mb built in, and the Venture has 24mb built in.
The Legend, eTrex, and venture also come in the Cx model and will take a microSD card--Garmin sells cards up tp 512mb I believe, but the units come with a 64mb card from the factory. I am using a 1gb card (SanDisk) in mine with no degradation in speed of loading maps to the screen. Haven't tried the 2gb cards yet (I think that's as big as they go).
In any case, you will NEVER have enough space to load alll of the US topo maps onto one card, but that is the advantage of the cards--get extras and load the maps by area/region, and just switch the cards when needed.
Not sure if any of the other Garmin maps will entirely fit on just one card, but I doubt it.
