On tonights Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild, Jim Zumbo appears. Guess what kind of gun he's shooting? That's right, Ted's AR-15! I really think this whole disaster really affected Zumbo.

to little to late in my humble opinion, damage had been done.

I applaud Ted for having Jim Zumbo on his show. As far as damage goes, Mr. Zumbo has paid a high price for his comments.

Sounds like I missed something interesting. I'll try to catch it on a repeat later in the week.

I don't know... I watch it tonight, and his apology on video didn't seem any more sincere to me than his written one... I still got the impression that he was in damage control mode. Given this may have been taped weeks ago, but to see it now... I'm still not buying it.

He is in damage control. He almost seemed lost. At times he acted like this is just something he needs to get through. Overall though I thinkhe seemed sincere.

Jim Zumbo is one of the most renowned and respected outdoor writers of our time. Unfortunately Jim Zumbo is now taking a lot of heat from the very industry he is apart of. Jim Zumbo “had” a blog on the Outdoor Life web site. Jim recently made a post on his Outdoor Life Blog in regards to AR and AK rifles that were negative and how there shouldn’t be a place for these types of rifles in hunting. Here is a short portion of his comments: I call them “assault” rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I’m a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I’ll go so far as to call them “terrorist” rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are “tackdrivers.”
Jim later apologized for his comments, but Outdoor Life "parted ways" with him over what he said.

Like others have already said, it really looked like Jim was pretty well into damage control mode. On one hand I felt sorry (just a little) for the guy- but for someone in his shoes he has to realize the impact of his statements/actions when he speaks out about this kind of stuff. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we need as many Jim Zumbos as we can get on our side.
He seemed like he was in need of a stiff cup of coffee. He was the first person I’ve seen sit down next to the Nuge (love ‘em or hate ‘em), that could remain so melancholy. He was anything but fired up. Good for Jim for openly apologizing, but his sincerity was definitely up for grabs.

The one time I don't watch Teds show and I miss a good one. We usually watch his show because it is one of the shows my wife likes that and The Cowboys show, but she also likes the Tigers and they were on last night so we missed Uncle Ted. Darn I'll have to chek the schedule and see if it is on later this week...

Its really a shame what has happened with that whole thing. Ive always loved reading his articles in outdoor life and he was a great ambassador for the sport with a huge amount of exposure. I guess he should have thought twice before making those thoughts public...

Are you saying he has bowel issues?:yikes:
I missed the episode, but it is a shame Zumbo didn't think about what he said and what impact it would have before he said it.

you must have missed some of his free concerts in germany, kosovo, and Iraq, all for the military, i didnt, May 2004. he toured with toby keith,,
side note; they were told at bagdad airport that thier hotel had been hit by rockets less than four hours before arrival, when given the chance to get back on the bird and leave, they pared their group down sent some back to germany, ted and toby stayed and did the concerts, and yes he was wearing some camo, :coolgleam

I would have filled my pants in those circumstances.
My hats off to you service folks. My friend is in the airforce and he is lucky to some extent they sent him to Dubia not Bahgdad.

Ive lost some respect for him(Ted). Ya know, he loves Bush ( i mean we all do, but im talking about our current admnistration:lol: ) and has become very politically loudmouthed. Now, I have my convictions on certain "conflicts" in certain "desert countries" and how things have happened. As for damage control, Zumbo going on a right wing, ultra conservative money hog's program seems to be the farthest thing from damage control. I see this as it being his nail in the coffin. Uncle Ted is in a spectrum of his own, and when you get invites to his show, it is either because your career is in the takn, or your absolutely insane and misery loves company. Guess where Teds home is in Texas?????? (c-r-a-w-f-o-r-d)
