I got a new BPS Extreme bait caster and an Extreme 7' MH for Xmas for top water and frogging. I strung it with some Powerpro red 40#. I also have a spinning setup too. 6.5' m action. What line do I put on this reel to cover a broad type of fishing? These are the only rigs I have right now so I want to be sure to cover as many options for bass fishing as possible with them. I know most of you carry more than 2 rod and reels at a time and I will get more as the season goes on. Thanks for any help. I love to fish top water, but this year I need to get more versatile. I want to get better with rubber bait and I want to learn to fish jigs as I have not had any luck with them. So a line for using jigs, plastic worms and creatures and some crank baits. I was told braided is not great for crank baits. Thanks.

i use stren super braid 14# for basically the same stuff as you were saying... just everything i might need it for... i love the stuff and ocationally i will put like a couple foot leader of Flourocarbon on the end... i do have that an a baitcaster tho and have never tried the briad on a spinning reels so i dont know if that will change anything... and about the crank baits on braid, it just makes them run deeper which i dont mind
