Took the fairy across the North channel yesterday to the island. Tried the usual honey holes in the canals for pearch. Started off with several fish right a way then it died. Did manage to catch the biggest gill I have ever caught, twice the size of my hand. We moved six times then decided to try a marina that I have fished in several times before. Ice was still there so it posed for a challenging way to catch pearch. We found a nice school in several holes through the ice and had to move up and down the docks to get consistent action. By the end of the day we managed 28 7-10 inchers.:) We got good at casting on the ice and draging the hook and split shot over an open spot and letting it fall in the hole and eventually pulling the bobber in:p .

Thanks for the report. I guess that means that all ice is gone from the canals?

Never fished the island before. How do you get access to the canals or the marinas to fish? Do you have to ask for permision or is there open areas for the public to access?

There are a couple of public access sites off of 154. Generally the canals around the marina's are accessable from the main road. Park the car and walk down. Just watch the edges of the canal. They're pretty soft.
