Some walleye are starting to show up in the SCR. Bogey and I caught 10 today (should of had our limit but had a lot of short strikes). Most were decent sized males with one being a 27" female (guessing she was 7-8# and was thrown back). Water temp was up 2.5 degrees from when we fished on Friday evening (we only got 1 that night).

The fish were scattered about from 21-42' and weren't holding/schooled in any particular hole. This may be because they are either on the move or that the water was stained. It may be hit or miss for the first coupe of weeks of the river season but it was a good/promising start.

Any particular part of the river? How was the ice, and where did you put in at???
Thanks!!!

We worked the head of the Middle Channel and off the HI ferry (picked up a few in both locales). As for ice, there was only a couple chunks floating down the NC in the early morning (nothing to be concerned with). Lastly, we didn't have launch from anywhere because Bogey lives on a canal off the NC.

Trippin' and I could only manage 4 this evening. Water was surprisingly very clear. Water temp is up 2 more degrees to 37.9. Method was jigging. Still no real pattern for us as far as depth of lure color. Sure would be nice to figure out a system.

Went again tonight... fishing was slow as we went 4 for 8. Bogey landed this 27.5" pig we were guessing went 10# and was thrown back. I lost the biggest Sturgeon I've ever had on (I just got impatient). Others are getting there fish, you just need to get out there.....

As a general rule I usually say a 28" female will go about 8# before it spawns. This fish however was extremely girthy and we're thinking it was over 9#. One thing is for sure, I need to get a scale!

Actually, it was a plastic minnow!

Still can't seem to find the color they want. Caught 6 more this morning on all different colors.
