My Buddy and his friend, hit the river today. They started a Deckers and worked it up to the Cris Cragt plant. "no luck at all" He said that he seen probally 12 boats. Anyone pick any up today?
I am going next weekend for sure. Please let us know if anyone did any good!

To much ice coming down in Marine City so I didn't take the boat out. Did some casting from shore but no luck.

--I went to Marine City and Algonac this morning, never saw a single boat out, and only one car/trailer in parking lot for the Algonac city launch that I assumed was for Russel island. A LOT of ice coming down, un-fishable as far as I could tell, butI did do a little shopping at Lumber Jacks ;) I will be out as soon as the ice clears, got all my gear out and ready.

how is the ice by you in the upper Detroit?
is water temp that much of a factor? You can catch walleye ice fishing? And last year I was jigging in January into February. Doing quite well at that. Maybe the temp determines where the fish are at in the river system? Interesting thought.

Thanks for the report. My daughter has been bugging me for two weeks to take her fishing, since we saw everyone ice fishing while we were having dinner at Bobby Macs. I was thinking about taking out the 14 footer today, but since I really SUCK at jigging anyway, I think I am going to stay home and brew some beer. (And probably drink some too.)

I had hoped to get her wet yesterday as well but don't need a dent in the side of the boat. Lots of ice still to come down as I took a look from top of the BLue Water Bridge yesterday and the Canadian shoreline was still pretty white with a steady stream of ice flows lining up as far as the eye can see. Here is a webcam shot-

I wouldn't be surprised if the ice continues for another week....

Supposed to be 71 and rainy tomorrow with high 50's low 60's the rest of the week so hopefully that flushes all the ice away! I am working today, I work at St.Jean / Mack Ave so I am going to run down to the launch at lunch and take a look at the river.

I rode the boat from deckers up to the south channel yesterday afternoon. The only boat I saw was one that was trolling headed south, other than that there was no one on the river. There was an occasional ice float but I really did not see much until I got up by the south channel. It looked most of the ice was heading down the south channel. I dropped an aqua-vu down and didnt see a single fish. That being said the water was very cloudy and I could not see far in front of the camera at all. No fish but it was nice to be out there again.
