Not happy!

I guess me having my pic on here is a problem to one of the mods. Aparantly my signature is too large, and I am not a happy camper. My wife put alot of work into making that banner for me and now I'm told it's gotta go.If you want to keep in touch you can e-mail me. I'll be at the greatlakesforum or the LSCN.

I wouldn't let something like that get in the way of posting here. It was a nice banner but it was kinda big. There was an issue about that maybe a year or so ago.

Maybe you could make it slightly smaller.

When you get right down to it, are you here to swap stories and read about the fishing or post a cool banner?

No one said you had to get rid of the image it was just the overall size.


It's not all of a sudden a problem, it just all of a sudden got noticed. Nothing wrong with it other than size. We had some issues in the past where a bunch of people had very large signatures and it became difficulet to read the threads. Thanks for your understanding in removing a portion of it.

KB is right, it wasn't the signature but rather the size of it.

There was a time when consideration was given to eliminatiing all signatures because of the bandwidth it eats up in the server. The only thing that saved it was donations (this was a few years ago when the costs of running the site were paid for by donations from the membership) back when there were only a thousand members. Now that we have 20000 and the number of posts we have it would eat a ton more costs which is fortunately covered by sponsors and sponsoring members. Consider that every post you make has that banner and it eats up server space.

I'm sure you have the signature saved some where on your computer. If you downsize it some I'm sure it would be fine.

You aren't the first member to have been asked to reduce your signature banner. We've even gone as far as removing some for members that were 'slow' to do so. Most of the time the membership never knows it was removed or changed because the staff has asked that it be done because it is usually done through the privacy of PM's as was done in your case. This is why it may appear that you were singled out when in fact you were not.

I, along with many others, enjoy your posts on the river and your enthuisasm so I hope the explanation satisfies your concerns.

I can understand being disappointed after a loved one put a lot of work into something and you've been asked to change it a bit. This is where a person has the opportunity to take the mature adult route and earn the respect of his peers or take the immature route and not be taken seriously or worse yet for people think "don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out." I'm sure you really don't want that to happen as everyone likes to be respected and taken seriously. Taking your ball and going home isn't a way to earn respect.

Yeah Derek, take it easy my fine Canadian friend. I understand you were proud of it, or whatever, but it's just a banner on a signature in a website. Ya know what I'm sayin. What does that really mean in the overall grand scheme of life??? It's something very miniscule IMO. Ya gotta understand where the Mods are coming from. Their trying to run a great site, and like anything, they can't please everyone. If everyone, every member had a banner as big as yours, it would take forever to scroll through the threads, and read the fishing reports. If you don't wanna post here, that's fine, none of us can stop you. But trust me, you would lose some friends. By taking a somewhat childish and immature (no offense, I'm just rappin with ya bro) stance, your gonna turn some people off, and in time you would be forgotten. Know what I mean.
