ANy where is possible with the right surrondings.Check along the banks and around any dead elms if any, semi cleared areas in woods that can be moist should hold morals as long as no ones messed things up for you before you bought it.

Swamp land is not the best place to find morels. In southern Michigan dead or dying elms are a good bet, but dry sunny ground will be a better bet. Start looking around the 25th of April for the little buggers, but the ideal time is early May for the bigger ones.

Well while we are all waiting for the Michigan morels I'll be in Missouri the end of march looking.:D The yellows were about all gone last year around April 15th. If you can't wait until they are here and have run out, try one can of condensed cream of mushroom soup empty it in a bowl (do not add any milk or water) crush up one package of saltine crackers add to the bowl and mix until you can form a thin silver dollar sized patty (add more crushed crackers if needed) coat with flour and fry it as you would fry up the morels. It's really a shock how similar they taste.

Elms, old apple trees, black berries, poplar trees, stumps of all types all seem to host Morels.
Even landscape mulch!
Late april to may is best for me.

Even landscape mulch!
:yeahthat: I find more morels in peoples gardens than I ever do in the woods.
As for the horse farm next door, I can't speak from experience, but my grandfather used to say if you have horses you'll have morels.;)
