Hello,

I've always had huge luck with a small Rapala or a Meps Spinner on small to medium size rivers for pike, small mouth, rock bass and walleye. I've also always wondered if casting theses lures would work for the steelhead currently in the Rouge or in the Grand River where the Rouge dumps into the Grand River.

Yes, as you can probably tell, I have never steelhead fished in a river, only in the big lakes with downriggers, but, I'm really excited to try the Grand River IN MY BOAT for steelhead because I really don't want to stand "shoulder to shoulder" on the Rouge.

Any help/advice that you can give will be deeply appreciated!

I think you mean the Rogue - the Rouge is in Metro Detroit...

Why not try both of them,The raps will work for trout also.Try some jointed ones if you have them in a #11

I know spinners work well, there are lots of people on here who use them, and more than I have. But, try working them near woody debris. Cast a little upstream of the wood and let it lift and start spinning just up from the wood. Should work with a little trial and error.
