about 7 or 8 years ago before I moved, I purchased some Diawa Sealine SG27 Lc's and married them up with some BPS Walleye Signature Series IM6 7"6" and 8" trolling/planer board rods. Well I am all retired and back in good old Michigan and plan to fish for my favorite fish, walleye. Anyway I have been reading many of the past posts and have concluded that it looks like I made a good decision back then on the reels and rods. My question is what would be a good line, brand, test, color, to put on the reels. I expect i will be using them trolling with big boards, long lining, and bottom bouncing on the lakes and rivers around this great state. Also since I have a couple of downriggers on my boat would the same line be appropriate for that applicaton also. I have a couple of inexpensive Browning downrigger rods. Downrigging is pretty foreign to me so this question might really be dumb:help: Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

i use trilene big game in 10lb test for all my trolling needs. i do not run little boards but i do run big ones off a mast. i think maybe if running little boards like the walleye board you may need to go heavier???

I like to use the braided lines for boards and Dipseys or Jets. You dont have the stretch of Mono, and the hook-ups are solid.....Little expensive initially, but the line last for a few seasons.....

I use 10# Trilene big game on all my planer rods, dont think if you run in lines you need heavier line tho....Dont understand why!!!!!!

10 lb. XT. Works for longlining and in-line boards for me.

Trilene XT 10lb. in the low vis green works for me. I use it on my large boards and my inline boards, all with dipsies too. Never had a line breakage problem. Want species would you targeting with the downrigggers? Most walleye applications don't call for the need to get that deep where it would be beneficial to have hem mounted in the back of the boat, seems like they just get in the way. For salmon on my downriggers I use either 17lb or 20 lb. XT.
