Seems to me like the work has been done for our legislators. If only they would take the time to make an informed decision. Probably to much to hope for.

40 views on this thread, 15 views on the same thread on glangler.com, and 14 views on detroitsteelheaders.org thread, and a total of 7 people, including myself and one anti, took the TWO MINUTES to post a comment to try to protect YOUR fishery....
Thanks to the 5 people who got off their ass and did something valuable today...
The rest of you will certainly have alot of free time to sit on here and bitch about the fishery and the DNR when there isnt a resource left because what color dipsey is hot in mid march is more important than taking two minutes to voice your opinion to our law makers....
Yes, it is important that this bill includes funding for a comorant control program.
That was me on that linked site, brief but a critical point. I missed it on signing my name.
What's also important is to contact your local legislators at the State and Federal level and demand action and funding. That has more impact than online petitions. All these things are important and people just got to click an e-mail to do a lot of good. Good stuff on DS org Jason.

Ed, That site isn't just a cheap unauhorized petition site. It's a respected informational site the legislators pay attention too.

Granted, you are right. There is no more direct way to voice your opinion than to call, write, or email your regional congressman. But, using that site, other congressmen, out of your direct area, get an idea for the overall feelings on a particular issue. I feel all bases need to be covered.

Last time i fished point betsie, i got shat on by the ten billion "sky carp" cormorants that flew over ALL DAY LONG!!!! I'd like to carry a 12 gauge with some T shot next time I fish there. I'd shoot a pile of em, grind em up, and feed them to the perch that they've dessimated for years.

Couple of interesting reads of what is going on outside of Michigan with 2 completely different attitudes!!
First, our neighbors to the north....
http://www.thestar.com/News/article/206556
This was just out today where Canada has stopped all control of the Comorants for this year. Note the section where it is stated that “The resistance (to a cull) is purely from people who don’t understand wildlife management, from a small band of animal rights activists,”
Hmm…, Wonder who is behind this one?
Now for a completely different attitude from some neighbors to the south. Granted, it is in one of the gulf states, but this is a migratory bird, right?

This guy is calling it like it is, kicking *** and taking names.
This is not a local problem, but a Nationwide/North America problem. He makes some very interesting points in his control argument. Does killing a few here and there, or “scaring” these birds only to relocate somewhere else really have an effect on them? From what I am reading, it looks like the FWL is afraid to stand up to the Anti’s and order a general reduction of "KILLING" the population.
