That kinda blows.

I know no one wants to hear it but ,,, this is the time to be careful. I'll probably be wearing my life jacket tomorrow,, probably won't "save" me but at least it'll buy me a few more minutes anyway.

Take a couple screwdrivers and stick them in your pockets. Or run a rope over your shoulders and attach some kind of awl at each end!
Isn't that how your suppose to do it?
That along with a vest could make all the difference in the world.

I hate reading about people that have lost their lives when enjoying our great outdoors. Please everyone be careful out there as we rapidly approach ice out.

Guys you are reading about people going in all over this forum and I am not saying this to be a jerk or anything, but is a bucket of fish worth risking your lives over. I would just hate to hear about anyone on here or any person that is enjoying the great outdoors to get hurt or lose their life over a few fish. Listen to yourselves and think "If I have to have a lifejacket or screwdrivers incase I fall in" do you really think you should be out there. Be careful but most of all BE SMART.

I've been sitting here for 5 minutes biting my tongue about this whole story......
All I can honestly come up with, is this guy may have lost his life and left a family behind for a few fish.......
What's wrong with anyone thinking they need to be out in these conditions.....inland lakes are one thing, the Great Lakes and connecting waters are another.........
My condolences to the family, a little common sense to the rest of you planning to still be out........

The 10:00 news just said they found him rowing in a boat tonight around 6pm??? Where did a guy ice fishing with a snowmobile get a boat? unless he used his sled/fish trap as a row boat?? Well how ever he made it glad to hear he is home safe.

I stopped out there yesterday to Brest Bay and I was told that they called the search off for now. My prayers are with the family. I went to Brest Bay on Sunday with my quad but I only seen about 2 or 3 fisherman way out there at the mouth. I walked about 100 yds out on the ice and my foot went through. That was enough for me. I never go out on the ice out on Brest Bay if there is no one else out where I am to go fishing and I NEVER go out on Brest Bay alone. I love to fish but my safety comes first. God bless the lost fisherman and his family and I'll see you guys out there this summer. Later

A man was found Friday about lunch time in Erie. It is believed to be the missing ice fisherman. A friend was at the MWC weigh in Saturday and was talking about the body being brought into Bolles Harbor Friday afternoon and a fella listening to us said that yes it was in deed the missing ice fisherman, his uncle, and he will be given a proper funeral. Sad, sad, sad. At least the family can get some closure now.
