Nice show, quite a bit of vendors, and a lot of nice people.

The Traverse City Hunting and Fishing Expo returns to the Civic Center March 17-19. Daily admission is $5 for adults and $4 for teens. The 12th annual event is made possible in part by local sponsors TV 7 & 4, and radio stations WKLT and the FOX.

I'll be there this weekend, I think.

Don't know what booth number yet, but I'll be working the show.

Its small scale but any hunting and fishing expo is worth a look to me. I will be there this weekend to check out the products. I have been in past years and found it to be worth the entry fee.

My company doesn't have a booth, but I will be hanging out with the NW Michigan Friends of the NRA. My company is one of the sponsors for this group and they will I think, be giving away some of our product at the show.

I'll post a booth number when I get it, which should be later today. I know I'll be there tomorrow, so I hope everyone does stop by.

I just got home from the TC expo where I brought a whitetail up to be scored by CBM scorers. It came out to a bit over 111. I had extimated it to be 120-125 as did the scorer before he put the tape on it. My neighbor and good friend brought the antlers up that from a buck that he downed with his smokepole. It was a bit over 140.

Bucko/Vern, I'm sorry I missed you at CBM's booth.

I also stopped by to chat a bit with EdSpin. Natty Bumpo was also there and so I had the pleasure of meeting him as well. Both of those guys were busy at the booths they were manning so we didn't have much time to chat. We'll need to rectify that in the near future.

We set up thurs night and I worked Friday night and I'm going to work Sunday, so I was a little late getting there today. We had plenty of help, so it did'nt matter. Sorry I missed you too. I looked over your friends score sheet........nice deer. Great deer for the Arcadia area. Congratulations to him. If you hear of any others down your way, please let me know, now or in the future.

Nice show, super busy this morning, but a little slow later in the day.

Vern, we'll get together sometime in the future.

I know of a few heads that have been taken in the area that deserve measuring. One has an inside spread of about 27". However it doesn't have as much mass as one might think. The last I heard from the hunter's son who I see now and then is that his dad does not want the deer measured. He doesn't want the name "Arcadia" to get out as a producer of impressive bucks.

If you can cough up about $225,000 I can arrange for you to purchase a prime 140 or so acres with an excellent little trout stream in the very heart of the best deer hunting in the township. Interested? Of course, for steering you onto the property you'd have to made me your trout stream and deer management manager!!!!!!!!

Out of the top 20 or so bucks listed in CBM's records of Manistee County bucks I know two of the hunters. The top buck was taken by a girl, a former student of mine. Her dad does my taxidermy work and will do my neighbor's (Tom). His will be the third person that I know who have bucks listed.

Mine totaled 111 and 7/8. It only had net score of less than 5" in brow points. I'm very happy with it though.

Not interested in any more property. We have 1100 acres that we bought from PCA in Kalkaska that I only bow hunt a little and I have a piece leased in Leelanau near my house that I only hunt a little. Mostly spending my money these days on out of state hunts.

Keep me updated on the Benzie/Manistee bucks. I do'nt pressure people in to measuring them, only if they want to.

Thanks for all of the input, I wish I could have went this year. I ended up going to the 'Living History Show' at the Kalamazoo fairgrounds instead. Turned out to be a interesting show as well.

There were some really cool mounts and some great art. I planned to take pictures, but ended up not doing so. There was one great mount of a cat, possibly a cougar, with a deer head under his paw. Very cool.

I also saw some really great art. The details and web links are on the company blog, which is here: http://www.git-r-slung.com/blog/index.php?itemid=88

I thought is was an interesting show.

Bob's a good guy and an excellent taxidermist. He's done two deer for me and a steelhead.

He did my first Turkey...my first wall hanger buck...and he's currently working on my second wall hanger, my fall 2006 buck. Wouldn't even consider someone else.
