Buddy and I fished Simcoe for perch this past weekend. Fished on the south side of Georgina Island on Saturday. Fished in 26 ft of water in the morning and kept maybe 15 fish between us. Mostly 9 and 10 inchers with two in the 12's and one 14" hog. Late morning the bite shut off so we moved to the south in 10' of water. Caught probably over a 100 fish but only kept a couple 8 inchers.
Sunday we fished off the southeast corner of Snake Island. Fished in 18' of water and had a better day. The water was clear so we just set up the shanty and watched the bottom. Our first holes were right above two sunkin' Christmas trees. It wasn't non-stop by any means but we did manage to put a few in the bucket. A school of 10-15 fish would come in for a few minutes, we'd catch a couple and then they would move on. It would be slow for the next 15/20 minutes and then another school would roll in. About 10 am a really nice whitefish came in but wouldn't take the minnow. Also saw a 15"+ perch swim by just after that.
After the two days of fishing, I kept 40 and John kept 30. We would of liked to have done a little better but all in all it was a fun weekend. Talking with other guys it was the same story. Lots of little ones with a few keepers.
Glad I brought the old snowmobile. 4WD quads were really having a tough time in the snow/slush once it warmed up.
