Now is when the serious ice fisherman get excited! The only ice I plan to see will be in a cocktail glass.

Put the Fish Trap Pro in the basement, cleaned and vacuumed the inside of the car,.............................and started packing for a Carribean Cruise. Tough life.

As for this icefishing season, I think I'll change my screen name to Shoulda Went To The Other Place. Or maybe I should beat someone else to: I Musta Caught A Thousand Dinks!

This is a good picture of water flow out of the Maumee River you can see the muddy water flowing along the shore, this flow often weakens ice after early run off. also it shows the mud line we always fish the outside edge

We went to Toledo for lunch and some shopping. We couldn't get out of there without a river check. The Maumee was a ragin and rollin, but some guys were out there in it. They were fishing at Orleans,Ft.Meigs, and Buttonwood. They are bound and determined to catch a wally. You can see, by the sat. pic, what color it was. Capnhook

Maumee is going to take at least a week to settle down... than the ice should be gone here...

Went to Gino's today, ice as far as i could see, people out up to 2+ miles, some cars on the ice, ice 12-14 inches thick...about 3 inches less than last week, but, still plenty. We have 2 or 3 more days of warm weather(enjoy it) then ANOTHER cool down. If it don't blow out, we will have ice for around 2 more weeks, there is expected to be a major warmup sometime in the following week accompanied by rain, i think that will be the end to a great ice season, and start to hopefully a tremendous spring fishing season, hopefully like last year with bigger eyes.

you will be lucky to still be icefishing through this week.

Plan to be fishing in the mid 60s on the ice on Tuesday, it's because temps are going to drop again to highs being in the low 30s towards the end of the week, believe me, at least a week and a half in many spots in SE michigan. The thing that might kill it is the following week, they are predicting highs 50s and RAIN for a couple days, the warmer rain kills the ice, just warmer temps don't.

It looks likt tomorrow is going to be the major ice killer. Its supposed to be in the 60's and the high winds that are expected very well good send that ice floating off shore not to mention the showers they are calling for over night tonight and tomorrow night. Time to think spring walleye and crappie!

Yesterday out one mile we still had a lot of ice. It looked good but was very easy to hand auger through. Instead of shaving the ice it was chunking the ice. It won't be long before large ice burgs head south.

Its over for me.

River time.
