Brandenburg good ice

I metup today with a few forum members and we fished a few different spots out there.Ice is still in relatively good condition as of tonight when i got off the ice.There was alot of standing water and soft spots around this afternoon but things refroze up pretty good by night fall.Fishing was fair for the most part after a reletively slow start.Nice meeting tod alexander today and good to see and fish with joeker51.I`ll let those members add a few more details on the thread about our day today.:)

Hey Harry I did see a small dead catfish on the ice today that someone had caught earlier sometime.It looked like a bullhead and it was about 10 inches long.

We had a good time. My 3 year old and I managed to ice about 20 fish, and kept 3. I was being, too picky to start off, so we only brough home 3 (2 caught by the little guy). Saw some real slabs down the hole, but they weren't cooperating.

As always, good to meet othe MS folks. Heading to Hillsdale today, hopefully I will get my trailcams set and other business done and do a little fishing out that way. Probably will be my last ice trip this year. Time to finish prepping the boat.

Picked up 16 - 7 inchers the first 15 minutes there. Lot of 7's today. Probably should have kept them but I was looking for quality not quantity. After that it was off and on. kept count of the catch. 73 total for the day only kept 15. Lost some realll nice ones at the hole. Gotta work on that.:lol: If you find one with a ficious glow fire tiger, please return the fish and keep the jig ! That one really upset me.:rant:

Think I'm done for the season .:( Besides, my supply of ficious jigs are dwindling between losing them and folks borrowing them. :lol: Gotta say it's been the best season on perch in quite a while.:D

Seen a bunch of guys fishing at the end of Schnieder road in the afternoon. I watched them for a while and every thing they caught appeared to be in the 6" class. Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

Yesterday a Ficious jig i borrow from joes was hot fish catcher.I`ll make sure I return it for you just time for ice fishing next season.Today a green glow was the ticker and Joes loaner jig well it was getting hits but i couldnt land them:help: Turned out to be a very frustrating day as the great search for perch continued.I got into fish just to the right of where we were fishing at yesterday Landing 2 outa 5 7-8 inches.Then we moved to Joekers honey hole once I finaly found it again.:help:.Joes formerly hot holes of yesterday were as cold as ice today while the 2 holes I was fishing yesterday at produced 1 for 3 landed.I lost a couple of big fish yesterday and even a few more today.Stayed there till an hour before dark hoping that a late evening bite would happen but it didnt.I moved with My friend Bryon and his dad towards the north pier for about 45 minutes till dark and got into an 8 incher which got off.We ended up catching a half a dozen dinks before calling it day and a weekend.I got alot of benificial exercise this weekend as well had fun trying to get a couple of meals of the elusive keeper st clair yellow belly.I got a hold of Captain gadget on the radio this afternoon he was fishing about 3 miles or so north of brandenburg by the white water tower.He said that mostly eveybody was doing fantastic catching fish .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......Except they were all dinks.I would like to get 1 more time but I think its going to be very iffy at this point.There was at least 10-12 inches of solid ice today with some spots by the pilings north of the piers having open water:yikes: Alot of very soft ice by the north pier where we fished at before heading in for the day and i made my Journey home back to Port Huron.I met someone out there today who had travel as far as flint to ice fish Lsc.Great weather to be out this weekend except a bit windy yesterday but hardly any wind today.

We hit it yesterday. Rain on Sat. morning so we changed our minds. We ended up with 24. Mostly 8 to 9's with a couple of 7's. We started north of the launch in 5 fow, water was a little murky. Caught 10, released 7.
Moved south of the launch in the same depth, water was clearer and the big fish were there. They were aggressive but spooky. They just wouldn't take the minnow all the way. One school came in and would hit a bare jig (Ficous of course). Had 9 nice schools come thru.

I should have hit the tin fish yesterday a couple of people i know did very well yesterday.
Did anyone fish brandenburg today how is the ice there holding up?
