View Full Version : Modifying the aft deck on my 94 Lowe?

I've thought about modifying the rear area of my boat to raise the platform a little AND create some storage for the batteries, gas tank and other odds and ends. Here' two pictures: the current layout and the "proposed" layout. Getting the aluminum sheet is no problem, having it press broke isn't an issue either (got a buddy who owns a Mfg. shop on the east side). Any thoughts on this?

I'd make a door on the port side (mirroring the one on the starboard side).

My only thought would be that the passenger would be sitting aweful high when running, I know I wouldn't be comfortable sitting that high. Of course they could always just sit down on the platform when under power.
Just a thought, besides that it looks like it would clean up the deck alot. Don't forget to show off when you get it done.

The seat would come out of that location and moved to a spot next to the console (there's already a base there).

Perfect, looks like a fun project. The only other problem I see is that your oar won't fit in it's current location!

It'd be nice to hinge that entire top so you could get to the gas cans and batteries easily.
Do it and fix that windshield too. :)

New windshield is on order with Cabelas (please be the right one.....PLEASE!)

Good idea Kev. I'll have to look into that. My only concern is: the sturdiness of the top? Would it be strong enough to hold a person YET light enough to open up?

That and the sternlight.
