I need some accurate reports for my one and only trip to St. Lukes this year.
I would hate to drive all the way there for the skunk!!!:help: I know thats how fishing goes sometimes but I'm trying to push the odds in my favor.
Any info from ice conditions to fish quality and quantity would be Greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Mark, we did horrible yesterday (Fri.) out of St. Luke's. The ice is fine, the first crack is open (2"), but there is no place for that ice to move too far....yet. We walked out approximately 2.5 miles, at our furthest point, and it was an easy walk with the snow on the ice, but that could change with the warm weather, so bring your creeper's. The access, Lakeshore Marina or Tommy's (next door to LM) is muddy, which is to be expected this time of year. Quads and snowmobiles were running in every direction, although there is open water about 5 - 7 miles out and also towards Mitchell's Bay there is another small area. With this weather and an upcoming cold front, one of these next few days should be great, good luck.

ice was wet and sloppy this morning and dry and slick this afternoon with some slush pockets. i dont think we lost any ice but the cracks did loosen up. with a good wind that ice will probably start moving. fishing was slow pretty much all day. drilled a bunch of holes and worked hard for 48 keepers. a few big pigs but for the most part 8"-10" males. not many females today. the small mouth where going nuts though. landed several and had even more short hookups. my biggest smallie for the day was a 19 3/4". heres a pic of the catch.

Yup, slow for us too. Jr and I ended up with 70 and not very many big ones either. I was throwing back 8's which I regret now. Once the fog lifted and the sun came out, we couldn't get anything going. We did catch about 10 Smallies and Jr got one that was pushing 21 inches. That was fun on an light ice rod. It was much better than sitting around the house. The catch isn't worthy of a pic but if your wondering, take a look at one of the pics from the last 2 trips and divide the weight by 2! :p

Don't feel bad for me, I suck at ice fishing. That was one of my better days. Heck, any time I can get more than one dinner is a positive ice fishing experience. Thank goodness the soft water season is just around the corner! :)

I fished St. Lukes and Mitchells Bay Friday and Saturday.
Friday I kept 7 fish over 9 inches. SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Saturday I caught 25, 9 inches or bigger. I fished Eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerywhere from south of St. Lukes to Mitchells bay, in close and out 5 miles. I caught exactly two keeper fish on jigs, (kens spoon and #2 jigging rap) all the other nice sized fish were caught on minnows.
Fish were being caught in at the end of the tree line out of St. Lukes but you had to do alot of sorting. Many little fellers. Dirty water was moving south from Mitchells bay.

Only thing i can think of, as to what happened to the bite over there, is the bait moved in.....The fish that we did catch, which was very few, were choking on Shiners. And that was not the case the last couple weekends over there. We had a Vexlar, and everywhere we went, that thing was lit up like a Christmas Tree.....Oh well, bring on the Soft Water now....I have enough perch now.....;)
