higgins conditions

can anyone tell me the conditions on higgins looking to head up Saturday evening for some smelt.

Ice is good, smelt are there the 12 guys that I talk to last night and myself did not hurt the population I caught 3 from 7-1 thursday night.:sad:

We saw quite a few fishi on Tuesday, just couldn't get them to bite. I think the lake will get slushy this weekend. I heard it was last weekend too.

stillgood ice. snow on the lake is getting wet and heavy with slush underneath. snowmobiles have no problem getting around, quads are having a tough time once they leave the packed snow. getting smelt at north state park down to big creek and off of west rd. went out for an hour and a half and brought home 40 of them tonite. hope this helps. bill

We went last night and measured 20 inches of ice and had no problem
walking out. There were some quads getting out with no problem,but when
we left at 11:00 last night it was pouring and the slush was building quick.
We did manage to get 150 smelt between 2 of us from 7:00 to 11:00.They
are bitting light, so leave the heavy rods at home. Good luck.
