Who has the best custom/semi-custom gun shop in Michigan!?
I use a place called Bachelders Custom in Grand Rapids, who do you like?

I have never heard anything bad about Mag-Na-Port in Harrison Township. Check out their web page. They should be able to set you up.

Cliff's rifle shop in Traverse City, the guy is a straight shooter. I buy all my guns there and direct anyone asking for info in the area to him as well. He also has great used guns, wont take em in unless they are mint. Got myself a used weatherby mark 5 there at a hell of a deal and I couldnt even tell it had ever been used.

William's Gunsight and Outfitters in Davison does some very nice work also. I'm thinking about using them to build a custom .308 Win.
I've had allot of business with Bacheldor's in GR and Brad has never done me wrong. Hampels in TC is another that I would definitely reccommend. Cliff's is OK, but sometimes a little high.
I try and stay away from the Ganders and Jays because they have so much volume. The other guys are always busy, but all they do is guns. :)

What do you mean by custom/semi-custom gun shop? Actually putting together a gun for you? or Ala Carte gunsmithing?
I don't think Jays, BPS, Cabelas, or Gander will build a rifle for you.
Williams Gunsight recently had one on the cover of Rifle Magazine they built for Chubb Eastman (Nosler) that was pretty nice.

I dont know about all gander mtn's. but the Novi store gunsmith will custom build you a gun. You can go in and talk to him about it. He has a custom .308 he built on display there. The gunsmith at gander in Novi is very good, he's only been there for a few months now, but he has made huge improvements on the gunsmithing service there.

Since I've moved to michigan, the best guy I found is at "Jeff's Gun Site, LLC". Jeff is located in Charlotte about 4mi outside of town. He's a great down to earth guy and shoots straight from the hip. He's honest and yet so far hasn't steered me or anyone I know wrong. I just bought a new gun and scope from him and he's done good with prices and great service. He custom ordered everything I wanted.
I got there late one evening just after he recieved his shipment in with my new stuff. After dealing with many customers and phone calls, he unpacked my stuff right in front of me as he checked in his order, and then took the time to set up everything with me @ 8 o'clock at night. New sights, see thru mount, new scope. All mounted and bore sighted right in front of me while I was there. Walked out with a brand new setup(with a Mueller 3x10-44, he's a great Mueller dealer!) ready to shoot the following morning.(and it shot great!!!:D )
I call this exceptional service! :)
I personally believe that you can't beat good service and someone that will always be there for you thru the end.
If you want any more info just send me a pm and I can give you more contact info.

Another vote for Dick Williams in Saginaw. They do excellent barrel and stock work for those who want to upgrade a factory gun to a semi-custom.

I would definately look at Williams Gun Sight for custom gun work. I have seen a lot of their custom work and it is awsome. They have also been nationally recognized for their work. Here is a link to their website for some pictures if your interested.

Did they move? I haven't seen their sign along I-94 in a while.
