Very cool. Here is a link from 2005 when another member shot a black coyote.

Cool coyote, but unlike the other's I would say dont mount it, get it tanned.

The reason I would tan it is I have never seen a coyote mount that I like and I wouldnt want to ruen a sweet coyote like that.

Congrats.

Dude,,,, that is ,,,,,,,,AWESOME! Definitely one of the coolest things I've seen. Without a doubt,, get it mounted. My dad has one that he got mounted about 20yrs. ago. It's in a sitting position on a couple of logs,, it looks cool.

Another vote for a mount, you dont see many like that here in michigan. Was that a handi-rifle in the pic is a hard for me to tell from pic,if not what were you using and what caliber. You did not tear it up bad at all from the photo.

I'll let the shooter tell you what is was for sure.
But I think it is his single shot 12 gauge.

Yup,he was shooting a handi-rifle in .223,shoots good for a cheap rifle single shot,i need to upgrade the scope though,it a simmons 10pt,i think it will do better.

Took one that looked similar in '98, haven't seen any near that dark since. Darn thing weighed 52lbs, it was old, grayed face with worn teeth.

i've taken one trapping but it was only a yearling so not much size to her. I'll dig out the pic and post it.

His belly fur looks thin did he by chance have the start of mange? was the skin dry and flaky? Or is it just the pic.

Most black ones for some reason seem to have a white patch on their chest.

Anyway...his shooting. The handi 223 is a great rifle, have you done the o ring trick and had the trigger done?

plugjerker

yeah, his belly was a liitle dry and flaking,i dont know what mange looks like but i heard they rub that time of year?Whats the o-ring trick, never heard of it.

When are these things in season? There are waaaaay too many up at our hunting cabin area. Would like to seriously thin them out.
