Was up there Saturday mainly trying for perch. Three of us only caught 7 perch and about 20 gills, crappies and sunfish. Panfish were cleanable and that was about it. Have fished there 2-3 times a year the past 8 years or so and have never done much on panfish. Hear stories about the big crappies and gills but have never seen them. We always head out about a mile so, we may be fishing in the wrong areas for the bigger panfish. If you go, you will see a large cluster of shantys straight out from Jacks landing. I would assume that is were the panfish action is. Heard of good size crappies being caught near the old railroad bed , but we've never fished it. That being said, we had trouble with the drifts on the ice. Kept getting my Ranger hung up going out. Must have to gotten hung up 4-5 times and we had to push it. Coming in we had no problems but we did stay on the more beaten paths. If you go, good luck.

You can just about always catch gills on Fletchers. I haven't been over there this year, but they're doing the same as always. You can catch litterly hundreds of gills.... but.... they'll be about 2 1/2" long. There are some good gills in there though but finding them can be tricky and/or time consuming. The last time a buddy and I went over last year, we each caught about 200+ gills and I kept EIGHT (8). Its still a lot of fun though. There's a DNR launch off M-32 on the north side. It will fill up pretty quickly.
If you get on only those little gills, move. Good luck!

I was out Friday and yesterday and did pretty well. My girlfriend and I each went through a can of wax worms. Caught some nice Crappie a few Perch and some Gills. The Gills were bigger on Friday.
Saw alot of Pike in the shanty yesterday so that slowed the Panfishing a little bit.

the next three weeks is the time to fish fletchers.for big perch go east or straight across . the crappies will be right out front. biggest gills will be west of jacks. pike are averging 28-30 inches but have been slower this year.
need a warm spell to melt some drifs and get some water running in the holes then the big crappi bite will be on
good luck

Jackslanding.com posted on march 4 that the pike fishing was good right now.good gill fishing also, and thought the specks would start biting better with warmer weather/coming.check out the site for the report.
