Wisconsin wonders how CWD COULD HAVE ENTERED THEIR FAIR STATE- the current official method of transmission, game farms-maybe an infected deer escaped from a game farm?- maybe bones from a hunter killed infected deer or elk brought from a western state?- possibly a mineral block containing animal protein or bone meal or pelleted feed contaminated with the agent that causes the infection? - baiting and feeding deer is a standard practice in Wisconsin.
How could it be contaminated feed- the FDA banned the practice of feeding ruminant meat or bone meal back to ruminants in 1997? RUMINANT MEAT AND BONE MEAL CAN BE FED TO POULTRY AND SWINE- POULTRY AND SWINE MEAT AND BONE MEAL CAN BE FED TO RUMINANTS- THE AGENT CAUSING CWD IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RENDERING PROCESS.
Are we to assume that deer or elk were not exposed to contaminated feed or mineral prior to 1997????
How about the game farm to game farm, the only possible way that CWD can be spread to other states, if we are to believe the "spin''. IT CAN AND DOES OCCUR.
Quote from the Wyoming University- " both infected elk in Nebraska originated in Colorado and both infected elk in Oklahoma apparently originated in Montana-CWD has been confirmed in the Montana source herd, but not in 2 potential Colorado source herds.
There are no apparent epidemiological connections between the Colorado-Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana-Oklahoma, and Saskatchewan foci- and no epidemiological connections between any of the cases in farmed elk and cases in free-ranging deer and elk.
One could say that there are a few holes in the "official'', or "spin'' versions of how CWD may be spread.
There appears to be a universal non- adherence among both federal and state authorities to the Precautioary - Principle as regards CWD- "THERE SHOULD BE A WILLINGNESS TO TAKE ACTION IN ADVANCE OF SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF EVIDENCE OF THE NEED FOR THE PROPOSED ACTION ON THE GROUNDS THAT FURTHER DELAY WILL PROVE ULTIMATELY MOST COSTLY TO SOCIETY AND NATURE, AND, IN THE LONGER TERM, SELFISH AND UNFAIR TO FUTURE GENERATIONS''
LETS NOT FEED OUR DEER OR ELK ANY PRODUCT CONTAINING ANIMAL PROTEIN OR BONE MEAL, ANY WHERE, ANYTIME.
