I have a dozen Sleepy Creek 1.75 Coilsprings. I got them from trapping canines and I was wondering how I can nightlatch these traps since the latch kinda just lays up under the pan. Ohh, any help or pointers on trapping would be greatly appreciated, this was my first year at trapping.
Thanx

Sounds similar to some jump traps I have for beaver. Mine are latched on the dog. I just set it then put pressure on the pan till it clicks the latch on the dog.
Works really well.

I use some sleepy creek traps. Just latch the dog just like Brandon said.

Look up this earlier post: "New Trap Adjustments" - 09 -05-2006. For some reason, I cannot copy and paste the link to it.

When you guys are talking about night latching your traps , what do you mean?

Night latching is filing a notch in either the arm of the pan or as said above in the dog so that when setting the trap at night in the dark you can hear/feel when the trap is set with a "hair trigger" Take a file and reduce the thickness of the upper pan arm at the tip so it clicks when you push down on the pan. Other guys can probably explain it better, but thats it in a nutshell.
