Ice Cond. For Crane Creek/maumee Bay

can anyone give me the heads up on crane creek/ maumee bay ice? i took off wed. for one last go at it. is it safe for a machine? & HOW FAR? WE WERE 4 miles sat.

Bolo, I ran in to a couple guys today at bottomline that had just got back from there, they werent fishing but just checking it out and they said ice was good and they talked to a couple guys coming off the ice that had limits with a few hogs in the mix, they said these guys were out 4 miles but there really wasnt any need to go that far. anyways they said they were heading there tommarrow and ice was in good shape. I was thinking of heading there myself wednesday or thursday.

Also I seen a few shantys out on breast bay, have you heard anything about there in the last few days?

well first off let me say i am a big wussy about ice i went out earlyer this year at brest bay...

how is the ice at crane creek is it solid what i mean is i know its thick enough but is it all locked up will i float away i want to go wensday.....


and can i bring the quad polaris 700 heavy quad 800-1000 lbs with rider

It'll depend on the wind...friends that I know fished out there over the weekend with no worries..as the E/NE winds kept everything tight. Chris did say that if the wind kicked up out of the south or SW, that it would be hairy..as there were plenty of cracks out there, but last weekend they were tight. I know for sure (I crossed it) that there was a big pressure crack that opened up a week ago Saturday. It was closed for the most part, but had apparently opened up to 3' at one point on that day. Granted, that was 9 days ago.

Ice was 10-12 inches thick 4 miles out. Limits were the norm.


Be safe...and watch that wind.
