Wondering how many uses removeable pedstal seats in your boat.Going to be upgrading my boat to pedstals.Need some feedback on pros & cons with the push buttons or the other ones with the plastic tabs?Im thinking to go with the 2 inch pedstal & the 9inch bases.

these suck big time.they get stuck and never come out when i need them to. I would go with the 3/4 inch pins any day. the plastic tab ones are 2 3/8. they are o.k. too but the tabs break.

I have the tappered tab - only popped out once under load. You do have to coat them with silicone or simular (a few times per year) to get them out, when left in long times. Otherwise great for adding others, or making room with less aboard. Also nice to move around for various fishing applications.
I would suggest the power ones though - easier on the back in rough water runs.

I thought the pedstal with the pins are weaker than the 2-3/8ths and the 1.77s? When I went to the outdoorama was trying to disconnect a pedstal (push button type) at the base thought I was going to break it.Salesman had to pull off the seat (no problem) then tried using his foot couldnt do it.Now the guy drop to knees to remove the pedstal from the base. I have a 17ft 1976 boat that I am redoing from the floor, seats, fishfinders, carpet, rod holders, and a bow trolling motor.I also been to gander mountain to many times waiting for them to put out there pedstals so I can check them out.I been to west marine also.It seems that the stores are not stocked up yet. All the newer boats have the pedstal seats it makes the boat feel so much more open.I have two pedstal that mounts to the floor now.I am switching to some type of removeable seat total of five(1 front & 4 in back) Need to be ready as soon as first ice is out.
The good thing about the larger diameter posts is you can use them to keep the net handy when trolling.:)

I have 6 bases on the boat, one on each casting deck and four in the cockpit. Very seldom use the two rear cockpit bases, If I need three seats I put one in the rear casting deck plate without a past.

Another vote for pedestal seating. I've got the plastic tab style on my boat and they can be tough to get out if you don't keep 'em lubed. But that's a small price to pay for the convenience they provide. I can have all five installed for a group of people or take all the seats out except for the captain's and have a ton of floorspace to walk around. I've seen folks use them to hold a planer mast or fishing net. Also, when trailering with a cover on, I use the pedestals by themselves to recieve boat cover support poles. I wouldn't have a boat w/o them.

My Lund I bought last year has 'em, and I really like the removable ones that came with it because it gives you a lot of flexibility in seating. Of course it really depends on what you will be doing in the boat. For example, my boat has one base in the rear, two side by side near the steering console mid-ship, and one near the bow. If I'm fishing three guys in the boat, and we're drift fishing with the boat parallel to the drift direction, I can use one in front, one in middle, and one in back. If we're in the river anchored and chugging, I can fish two in the middle out the sides and one in back. If my 81 year old dad want's to come along, I can bring a folding lawn chair out for him (much more comfortable for a senior citizen), remove one of the pedestals, and put the lawn chair there. OR, when we're out duck hunting in the fall, I can remove any or all of the pedestal seats, and line gunners up side-by-side the entire length of the boat with bucket seats or whatever I want to use. Removable pedestals just give you a lot of seating options.
