Heard they were catching browns, and steelhead thru the ice on wax tear drops with minnows and waxworms, does anyone know how thick the ice is in theses harbor, I know Huron is open out in front or these harbors all the ice flow is on the canada side after those heavy winds the other day!

I fished port sanilac last sunday and did not see a fish in the hole ,but lexington has fish in the harbor and nice numbers. The report I am seeing is the fish are not hitting anything thou. The harbor(lexington)still has alot of minnows which makes for a tough bite. Both harbors have 11 plus inches of ice ,but be carefull in lexington around the docks it is very thin due to the bubblers.
Joel, I fished there tuesday and did not see any browns or steelhead there wewe alot of suckers thou. Only saw a few minnows. Water was clear but with the wind we had thursday clouded the water up near the opening i was there today [friday] There is a guy fishing there that has a real shanty and he has been catching fish near the ramp. He had one in the box on tuesday [steelhead] and when i was talking to him there was one in the hole but did not bite. Today i had a brown come in and took the jig and he spit it out before i could set the hook. Did see three more suckers, could be fun spearing. The guy who has the perminant shanty had two steelhead today that i know of. He won't tell you much if you ask him. But he is using minnows to atrack and a jig head tipped with a wax worm from what i could see. Good luck . Dan:evilsmile

i wonder if a dead minnow on the bottom would work. they say browns on the west side eat that kind of stuff. i bet along the shoreline right now theres browns.

Why don't you guys drop down a nickel-sized floater bag of fresh brown spawn on a slip-rig? I bet that would put fish on the line.

That will work if you can catch the first brown to get the spawn. They have been catching a few in both harbors the last week or so.Good size to them also.

Saw lots of open water near the Lakeport State park the other day.
Won't be long and you'll be able to fish from the shore.

That ice is over 20 inches in places inside the harbor,Its going to be in there for quite a while.I seen ice in that harbor till june after the winter of 02-03.No the harbor wasnt completely froze but the ice that was there was still thick enough to walk on in most places,I did it.Hopefully that ice will be out there sooner this year.Oh I have a friend who regulary fishes that harbor and he said an occasion trout or two have been taken recently but for the most part typicaly slow fishing has been the rule.I hope to get up that way for last ice trout this season but so far I have been focusing my effort on local area ponds and lsc perch.
