It did not take long for this wind to start breaking away the ice out west. A few guys had to be taken off an ice flow by the CG today off Toledo Beach. Attached is the link.

I for one have learned my lesson on that one time. Had to jump a 5ft break to get back. It was my best landing either. Be careful everyone.

Just as I was getting ready to make that same leap another fisherman showed up with an 8' length of 2"x10". Talk about walking the plank! I'm a big feller and I would have never made that jump and even if I had it probably would have involved a visit to th E.R.

About 10 years ago a buddy and I was fishing off west sister and on the way back the ice had opened about 2'. There was a plank to cross on foot and they had built a snow ramp the guys on sleds were jumping. I had a small John Deer sled pulling a sled with all our gear. I did not feel safe making the jump but my buddy on the back of my sled kept assuring me I could make it. I rode the crack for a very long distance and realized the ramp was my only option. When I got back to the area they had built the ramp I gave it all the throttle the sled had and the partner who was saying "you can make it" is now screaming "not with me on it!" too late to stop now..... We made it and still laugh about it to this day:lol:
