double trouble

For the first time in 5 trips I really got into some nice fish today. I took my 15 year old son and gave him a choice of 6 locations. lets see. metro beach, geno's ,the gazebo, millers ,the day sail ramp, or the coast guard. he said gazebo and geno's. i said lets try millers first and see whats happening. NOTHING.
got a tip from a regular that the 2 bays north off blossom were pretty good so that sealed the deal. mind you ,Its 1 p.m.
we walked across the beach at blossom and across the bay. we plopped down on someone else's holes with nobody around. Immediately we start banging nice fish. My kid has not fished all winter so he is tangling up more lines and losing more fish than i can count. I lost a couple jumbos that were trying to pretend they were walleye. By 4:00 my kid is a bit cold and hungry so I do the right thing and pack it in even though I know prime time is near. we took home enough for a nice meal for 4.talked to a guy on the way out who claimed to get hundreds this morning and kept 50.I believe him.
Now here comes the fun part. I'm gonna fish and tell.I fell that its late in the season and everyone should get in on the fun.Its perch milking season!!! line yourself up with 9 mile tower or just past it. now line up with a camo permanent shanty in the bay or anywhere on that line but keep about 100 yards west of the pressure crack.also there were guys in the second bay north of the coast guard doing good too.I hate to say this ,but use minnows.I had the kid using a salmo chubby darter and a 3 inch dropper. he also had a magic rig and a i used jiggin rap. any questions just p.m. me ,but that should cover it. see you there this weekend.

dt fished that first bay monday in the wind west of the camo shanty, and
had nothen for 15min, then moved north in front of second bay and started
to hit them good, ended up with 26 but only was on then for an hour and a half, my skimmer broke and my hand were frozen solid from using then to skim the ice out of the hole. dave

I seem to be getting more p.m.'s about my avatar than my fishing.my wife is a teacher and so is she.

LOL I guarantee if my teacher looked like that when I was in school I wouldn't have skipped class so much;)

Nice job on the fish by the way. That area is going to take a beating with the warmer temps and very high winds:(

That area is hit or miss.......Be careful, that ice is unstable.....Period.....Lots of currents going through there....

the pressure crack and piled ice was only 1/4-1/2 mile out. walking the coast guard canal was slush city so i hoofed it across the beach. much safer.15 inches of ice everywhere. i think it will survive the wind.as long as whole lake stays locked up.
