Got out to the spearing shack and was dissappointed to see our 12" sucker decoy was gone, a pike must've plucked him from the weeds.....usually we can get through a whole season with two decoys, and this year we were still on our #1 decoy. Luckily we do a lot of jigging so the sucker isn't the main attractor, so we fished without a decoy for the past two nights.....lastnight we speared our 5th pike of the year........my brother cleaned it when he got home, and believe it or not, our 12" sucker was in the belly......I was skeptical at first, until he told he you could see where the pike had pulled the harnass out of the suckers back......what are the odds? At least he didn't die in vain. :D

I think aaron told me it was 29", by no means a monster, but the big pike have been few and far between this winter. I did see a nice one lastnight, I'd guestimate in the 36" range, really thick, darn thing must've swam in at a slow crawl, I didn't see him til he flashed his tail to take off, he was right on the bottom......it was getting dark, so picking him out on the bottom was tough enough. Thats what I get for not putting any potatoes down this year. Oh well.
