Where do you guys pick yours up at. DNR, license sales shop (Dunhams/Gander), ORV sales store? It's been a few years since I last bought one but if I use the quad this weekend, I'm going to need to buy one. Appreciate any input. :)

I picked up my ORV sticker at Gander Mtn. yet I was told by the DNR that it was not needed for ice fishing (going to and coming from a shanty). I bought one anyway as I didn't want to run into a problem. Additionally, I believe that any place that sell ATV's or snowmobiles would be able to supply you with the ORV sticker. Good luck and always like reading your reports as they are very informative. I am also glad to read that your son was alright after falling into the canal. Take care and good luck fishing.:)

 I think they stopped that a while ago. I tried there in 05' and the lady told me they no longer sell them there.

Any place that sells hunting and fishing lic's will also be able to sell you an ORV sticker.
I've heard different interpretations of the needing one for ice fishing arguement. The strict sense of the law states that any ORV operated on the public frozen waters of Michigan needs to have one. However I have also been told by several others that you don't need one for ice fishing.
For $16.25, I buy one just to be on the safe side.

Thanks and thank you Dasher for your concern about my son. I don't give many reports this time of year as I'm not much of an ice fisherman but I plan to give it a shot Sunday and be part of the outing. All I need is someone to lead me to the fish and then show me how to catch them. :p This is a whole different animal than soft water fishing. My son did make it out yesterday in the Metro back basin and picked up a little over 30 keepers on a firetiger jigging rap. I plan on bringing him with me Sunday so at least my bucket won't be empty!

Just checked on the Michigan Secretary of State website and it says it is $22.00 for a 3 year registration and sticker(snowmobile)and $11.00 (ORV) for 1 yr. so apparently they still sell them. Hope this helps. Al

Stopped at Dunhams at lunch and they have them. Only problem is the new 07 stickers are coming out March 1st! :( I may watch the weather and ice and make sure I can use the quad this Sunday before I spend the money.

 How can they charge $11 and everywhere else is $16.25?? Are you sure the $11 wasn't just for the title application(RD-108)??
I just checked the SOS website,, it says the DNR issues ORV stickers(which I know is obvious). So I called the SOS anyway,, the lady kinda chuckled and said,,,, we haven't handled those in "years",,.... How long has it been since you got one there Al??

Mine snowmobile ORV expires 9-07 so I would have to say 2004? You are correct on the ORV, I took a 2nd look and it is indeed for the title. Like I said, I got the info I posted from th Mi. SOS website....... Al:confused:

If you take a sled out on the lake, do you need a trail permit or an orv sticker? When I ride trails up north on the sled I need a trail permit ($25). If I were to take a quad on those same trails it would just need an ORV sticker ($16.25). So what if I take the sled on the ice?

I got mine at Lakeside Bait and Tackel in St. Clair Shores. You should be able to get one where ever fishing and hunting licenses are stored.

You can get them anywhere you get a fishing or hunting license. They are printed on the same material. The stickers you get from the DNR website and powersport stores are preprinted and a better quality material. If you power wash your atv often they hold up better.
