I never go to Anchor Bay on weekends. The is just too much noise and general commotion for my money. Some others on this site will probably disagree with me. The other thing that I don't like is the snowmobilers that are not racing seem to think that the entire bay is their personal racetrack and drive like morons. They think nothing of going very near somebody sitting on the ice at 50 to 80 mph. I also get very tired of listening to their racket. Fishing is supposed to be a time for enjoying nature and a smowmobile going by at does not, in my book, contribute to that. I wish there was some way we could get the DNR out there to ticket some of these monors for reckless use of a snowmobile.

Finally got out to Fair Haven today with a buddy and we were straight out from the DNR Launch and didn't see any fish so we made a move and my friend picked the next location and I set up 15 feet from him and didn't see anything, yet he was catching fish.... Finally, I set up near him and started cathcing fish. We left with 30 keepers. I talked with a few guys and they didn't even see any fish. The bucket butts, were moving around alot, so I suspect they were not doing to good. We fished from 8:00 ish until 1:00.
We were using minnows and wigglers. The fish were very finicky. They would come in pairs or alone. Not to many dinks, which was good. We will try again sometime this week.
When we were leaving the DNR had someone in the parking lot on a 4x4 and it looked like he was getting a ticket for something???? I didn't want to ask,so we tried to eaves and it was something in regard to the parking lot is the same as the road and that's all we heard.
Good luck to all.........

Go out to where the fish are and you will be far away from the noise and commotion!

dnr have been out ticketing snowmobilers for the past 2 weekends handing out tickets to people going over the state snowmobile speed limit of 55mph and for racing unless they are on the dnr permitted track. this past weekend there were 3 dnr trucks and 4 officers handing out tickets so if you have an issue with a someone buzzing i would flag down a dnr, we race over on the permitted track and have these morons cut right through the cones and run across the track when we have guys flying down there at 110+mph  talk about shittn you pants

I have only been out on a Sunday two years ago, and this was near last ice and the weather was crappy, so I didn't have the opportunty to experience any of the weekend hoopla that many a fisherman have to endure. Thank God!!! We only encountered one guy on a noisy 3 wheeler that got stuck every 40 yards try to go past us, yet the fish didn't seem to mind. Other than that one occurance, we did see snowmobilers, ATV's, and vehicles which didn't pose any noise problems for us, and seemed to respect the fisherman. I'm so thankful that I'm not forced to fish on the weekends!!!!!
