How is the next few days, say through Sun., going to effect the ice? Still safe to venture out?

Be careful around JAMS and STRESS CRACKS. The solid 12-14 inches of ice will be safe for a long time, even when we get open water out there. Stay away from ice and open water when it is windy.
One thing to add, high temps alone do not ruin thick ice quickly! Throw in some rain and it gets nasty FAST! Whenever you question the safety of the ice, take a spud and hit it as you walk.

Well, like I said, I only plan on going out in front of hte beach at Metro. 2-3 fow......I'll just wear my knee highs, that way if I do fall in I'll be ok. :D

But seriously though, I just want to make sure it's safe. I will be taking the girlfriend out for the first time, and don't want it to be ruined by some "iffy" ice...............and I think they are calling for rain on Sat. as well. :(

Well taking a girlfriend is a different story. I mean, there are only so many ways to keep warm ..... on an ice flow! ;)
