Well so far this Ice fishing season has been a bust for me. I have fished from cotton down to south of crocker, boy can i catch the dinks but I just cannot find the pigs.
So hears is where the alittle diffrent comes in, The thought of years past came to mind and those pigs that moved in to the deep water infront of Ginos. To make a long story short I took a long hike out to 12 fow about 1/2 a mile south of Crocked rd The minute I put the fish finder down it lit up with a big fish. So I sent down a medium buckshot spoon but the fish just would not take it. After the fish left I pulled up the spoon and sent down a small jigging rap tipped w/ a minnow head. One jiggle once the rap hit the bottom and without even marking the fish I felt the thump. What comes up is an 18 inch Eye. Hey not bad I thought, in the next 10 mins I landed one more about the same size and lost one at the hole. What a great way to start the day;) This was the first time I caught multiple eyes in the same day on st. clair.
Now for the frustrating part, after the first flurry of the day it just died. I fished until 12:00 in the deep water and must of drilled 20 holes. I never marked another fish or had another bump. On the way in I fished in 5 fow a caught a handful of dinks.
Not what I expected for the day but I'll take. Lets just hope the weather hold until those pigs move in.
