I posted some pics of this deer last week. I got some better pics of it today. It appears that it stands on the deformed foot just like a human, with a heel and all. And in the second pic the hooves seem to be long, like the deer isn't wearing them down by making contact with the ground. Plus the upper leg looks to be swollen or bigger than the other front leg. Other than that the deer looks perfectly healthy. Gotta love these "survival machines".

Be interesting to see how he makes out. Bet it effects his antler growth by next fall.

Is it a male or female? Do you know for sure?
I still say you remove it from the herd - legally, next fall of course. That deer has cull written all over it, IMO.

Well I came face to face with her today when I went to change memory cards on my camera. She was bedded down about 30 yards from the feeder so I got the binoculars out and its definitly a doe. She stood and stomped at me with her bad foot! The foot is definitly broken also, every time she raised her leg to stomp it dangled pretty good. I don't really understand though, she stomped with the bad foot as if she wasn't in any pain but when she walked away she noticably limped and then when she started to trot she didn't use that leg at all. I would love to put her out of her misery if she's still around next fall but that's a long way's off.
Off the topic I got a pic of a spike lastnight that hasn't shed yet.

The coyotes may get to her before you do. We have a deer with a bad leg also. Dont know if she is going to make it or not.
She may have stomped with the bad foot because she can't put all her weight on it. I have a doe on my property, that is at least 4 years old, that has a bad foot. Once it healed she has carried on as any other normal doe, and she can run like the wind. As Buck Wacker stated, they are survival machines.

I have a buck with a bad leg and he is 3yo and doing fine, I have a doe limping from this season and also this week I seen a doe with the leg gone just above the elbow and she is doing fine. All can run like there is no problem. I must have some real marksmen for neighbors!!!!

I hear ya. I'd leave her alone. My Dad saw a doe that had a broken leg when he bowhunted years back. She lost it below the knee but then had triplets.......seven years in a row!
