Heading up there for the first trip since it iced over? Anyone been out? I'm going to set a few tip ups in front of the cottage on the west side to see what happens. hoping to sucker a few eyes into joining me for dinner.

This time of year I'd go off the Hardwoods in a straight line to Church Hill - there's usually a pressure crack there and fishing the north side of it (within 20 feet)..may be 200 yards from the west side (Hardwoods) with tip ups has done well. You should be in about 40-50 fow there.. Again, I haven't been up on the ice this year. I'm hoping to be up there this weekend, and if I go, that's where I'll be starting...so long as the ice is good.

Fishing was the pits........had 4 tip ups between my brother and I. Had them out on the ice for a total of 16 hours between saturday and sunday, and not one flag. I even checked them to make sure I had hooks on them a couple times. :dizzy: Opted to hunt coyotes instead, and faired just as well. Lots of guys fishing southend, and a few up and the north end, but I don't like to set foot on the north end, those gas pockets scare me.

south end in about 30' to 40' of water produced some decent fishing. as well as off churchill point towards the hardwoods. i know a few people that did ok. one guy and his son took four each home friday and saturday and guy i shoot archery with got his limit sat and sun.

Thanks for the info Ed, I didn't have the quad this weekend so I wasn't to portable. I'll be back first weekend in March, I'll have to try other spots on the lake. Were these people all using tip ups, or jigging?
