I hunt PA with my family each year. I have also traveled to Nebraska and had a bow hunt there.... Did not care for NE that much personally.
where are you going or thinking about going?

I have not hunted out of state, but I have been wanting to try Indiana or Ohio, looking for a lease in either state. The best thing about those states is the tags are over the counter.

Tried a guided hunt in Illinois in 2000. Tags there are county-specific and the outfitter put me in a new parcel he leased an hour drive from the lodge. Didn't turn out to be a good experience. Non-res licenses there are by lottery, so you could plan your hunt and then fail to get drawn. Prices there are getting into the mid $3000 range for fully guided hunts. Semi-guided can be a better option in some cases.
I'm now looking into a guided hunt in Ohio. No lottery there, and their gun season starts the first Monday after Thanksgiving, so you can hunt the first part of MI gun season and then go to Ohio.
I hunted with a buddy in southern Indiana on private land this past gun season. Got a 138 1/8" 10-pointer first morning out. Well worth the $150 OTC license, but guides and public land are scarce down there, so you need connections or make the effort to find a landowner who is willing to let you get on a good spot.

I spend 10 day's bowhunting in Illinois every year. What a awesome place to hunt.
I hunt IN every year (used to live there) and may hunt in WI, ILL, or Ohio this year. Love trying out new spots.

I go home to Ontario and hunt with my dad and highschool buddies. We do ok, but it's more about the beer, cards, highschool hockey tales, and good times. Never miss.

I hunted in Iowa for the past 10 years with family and friends. (Shotgun Season). I've decided to discontinue hunting Iowa because they continue to raise prices on the out of state hunter. I'm know taking my money to Missouri and I can hunt with family down there and not have to worry about a lottery system as well and the cost is a fraction of what it cost in Iowa.
I'll be bow hunting this year for 6 days in northern Missouri, They have had a 8 point antler restriction the past 3 or 4 years and it is delivering AWESOME results.

I try to go home and hunt Iowa every year only because I can stay free and have plenty of land to hunt otherwise I wouldn't. It's nearly $450 You can almost put in for a wyoming elk, and you'd have a better chance of drawing.
I'd love to try a kentucky public land hunt, or southern ohio. Missouri is where we, growing up in Iowa, always talked going to shoot big non typical bucks, I think it's kind of forgotten.

Montana for many years and took my biggest buck there - 162" gross B&C score. Have hunted many times in Illinois and less so in Alberta, Manitoba, Ohio, Colorado etc. Now looking at Indiana...... But Montana - now there is a place everyone should hunt if they can - saw over 100 different bucks in 3 days! Too bad my outfitter retired - now too expensive at least for me. Good luck if you take a trip and try out of state!

Hunted in both Ohio (Licking and Knox counties) and in Indiana (Randolph and Jay counties) and I'll hunt both states again this fall. Never have I seen as many big deer as I saw in Ohio. Getting permission to hunt is a little more difficult (especially in the top producing counties in Ohio) but it is well worth the time and effort.

Yep I've bowhunted Illinios, Kansas, & Nebraska. I have taken some really nice deer over the years. Now just about all of my hunting is done out of state. Just more fun to see deer act like deer, not the physco over preasured deer we have in Michigan. Next year I will be going to Iowa and Ohio, can't wait.

Doublegun - Licking County is where I hunted - what an awesome area for big bucks. I never saw so many monsters as in that county. Good for you!!

Webfarmer,
I am very fortunate to have been able to hunt there. Cover was perfect for big deer, just the right balance of corn, hardwoods and water. The section I hunted may be the best property I have ever hunted and I can't wait to get back down there this fall.

Does Any One In Here Hunt Out Of State For Deer?
Yes sir, several states and provinces
My 6 hunting buddies and I,all have private property but very rarely
hunt in MI anymore, we call it " wildlife viewing opportunities" for obvious
reasons. I guess we look at it, " insanity" definition- continuing to do
the same things over and over, but expecting different results.
But we continue trying to be part of a solution, and not part of the problem:) One can only hope for better :D
