What's the latest ice and snow conditions at Houghton? Anybody driving on the lakes yet? How thick is the ice? Fishing reports - up to date?
Thank you.

You might want to check the forecast......a warmup is coming. Add that to the slushy spots and you have a recipe for disaster if you take a vehicle out there.....

Saw a few vehicles out and about. We fished the bay out in front of Harvey's Marina. Fished mostly tip-ups, caught a ton of 19 to 23" pike, only three over 24", largest was 26" and one very nice 24" walleye! :D Ice was easily over a foot thick where we were at.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. My partners and I will be up on the weekend of 3/2/07. There will be 8 of us looking for fish and a good time. :D Maybe there will be more ice by then.

Hi all, only a week away from my trip and wonder about the ice thickness now. Any reports you can give?
Is anyone driving on the lake yet?
Can't wait to get up there.
Thank you for the reports.

I was up there last weekend before it warmed up. Even with the temps getting down to -9 there are still some spots where water is coming through the cracks and making soft spots. Fishing was rotten, I'm not going to spend any more time on that lake.

Thanks for the reply. Where would you go if you were in that area? We want to locate gills and crappie with the occasional pike. Thanks again.
