Higgins North or West launch

I was up smelt fishing at the West launch last Sat and did ok. What is it like at the North launch. Is there better perch fishing at the Noth during the day? How are the smelt the North? Is it about the same distance walk as from the West launch to smelt fish? How far for perch?

North end does OK to good for smelt. Its all about the day, one day is good next is poor. Both areas are exactly alike for smelt. Perch are small again this year and your best bet is to move around the dropoff away from any crowds, move and move in order to find some perch but do not expect much. Lots of little ones. North end is a little further to walk than the short walk fromthe west but not too bad. Lake Trout fishing was hot today out there, got word via cell phone while I worked!:( . I'll just say the north end of the lake in 90 plus feet of water using grays and/or smelt. Good luck this weekend and watch out for the slush spots and getting a parking tickets!!!
