New Michigan Fishing licenses start April 1. Current year good until March 31. I think you can purchase a new license for this year that will take up the slack if you did lose it.? May want to check out the DNR website for sure on that though.

Wondering that too. Don't think the increase was approved yet. I usually buy mine online the last week, might go look here shortly.
EDIT: 2007-8 LICENSE NOT YET AVAILABLE AT THE WEBSITE.

I quite honestly don't have a problem paying the price now that I know our money is supposed to go back to the DNR and actually be used towards our natural resources. :)

'06 expires March 31st.
Can purchase your '07 license starting March 1st.
March is an overlap month, both '06 and '07 licenses are good..
I purchase on line then can print off a number of copies.....One for your wallet, boat, vehicle ect.
Not sure when or if the $$ is going up so I plan on purchasing mine on March 1st if still $28.
FYI- Is free fishing weekend coming up.....

It looks like the licesnse fee proposal is basically shelved for teh time being. I think since it is a new session, they have to responsor it and such... Fee's right now have not went up..
I suggest buying online, and you can print a few copies. I leave on in the truck, one in the boat, one in my wallet, and 2 in the safe..

for next year they are 30 bucks for a restricted and i would assume double that for a all species:( . ill pay it for the 07 but if i dont see any better improvements for the dnr ill have a hard time paying it for 08. that 100% increase better make a big impact on the fish planting and all the other good stuff that bennifits us or there will be alot pissed off anglers.
just my opinion, dont mean to piss anyone off

You guys need to buy them on march 1st.The new fee is not in effect till it is approved and then they will be going up SO ON MARCH 1ST YOU WILL STILL BE PAYING $28,but at soon as they pass the new charge they will be in the $40 range for all.

Joel,
Do you have a house or Senate Bill # for the proposal to increase fees? Or is this just a decision within the DNR?

The bill is written, but has not been proposed/sponsored by a politician...... yet.
I guess the politicians feel that if they propose the bill, they will have a hard time getting re-elected.

When is this going to happen. Even if some House or Senate bill has been written it still needs a sponsor and co-sponsors and needs a bill number and then it has to have a reading and then it has to be assigned to a committee and then there will be hearings and discussion and then it has to be voted on and then the approved bill is sent to the other legislative chamber and there is another assignment and the process continues. Eventually it will get passed.
So my question is when will it all take place. So far it is at a dead stall.
The front page of today's Detroit News has big headlines on this issue but if we go past the headlines and turn to page 4 we will read how this is still at that dead stall.
I will be very interested in what happens on March 8th. Hopefully they do have a meeting to get the ball rolling and the sooner the better. This issue has to come to a rest but based on the uproar so far I have real doubts that we will see a price increase before fall.

Can one still get the 15% discount if buying 4 or more licenses online? I like to buy my fishing, small game, and deer combo at one time and get the discount. I usually go to the stores to do this...but if the price increase goes into affect prior, I may screw myself out of more than 15%!!!

Are you kidding me? This is going to be like everything else they increase. More money for less services. You and I are not going to see crap except for the money flying out of our wallets.
