Hale Long Lake

I live in the Detroit area, but have a cabin in the family that is on Long Lake in Hale Mi. Anyway, I was thinking of taking the kids to the cabin to go ice fishing do some skating and sledding. I was told there is a lot of slush on the lakes up there which would make ice skating a little tough. Can anyone from that area give me a low down. Is it worth taking the kids to the lake, or is it just a slushy mess?

I haven't been up there since summer freinds of mine have a place up there only thing I can tell ya is i've caught a few perch and a bunch of bluegills outta that lake. I'm not sure what else is in there to fish for.

the lakes i've been fishing up here had slush but it's all frozen now..most have 8-10 inches of snow on top of the ice.might want to bring a shovel if skating
