Lake Nepessing

Does anyone have info on ice thickness and fishing reports for Lake Nepessing? I am wondering if there are any spots on the lake where people are not riding. There is a kids event out there Sunday, so I'd like to be informed as much as possible. AND, I am not looking for the normal Lake Nepessing "bash" on how there are no fish on the lake. I'm aware of the difficult fishing out there...thanks

I was there 2 weeks ago they had 10 to 12 inches

well since you know the fishing can be slow, the bait store said they were actually catching a few walleye out there but no size to them. all were mostly 12-13" he said. also, 8" of solid ice. nepessing is usually good for afew pike and perch. very few walleye from what i remember. i have caught a few but not that many. try out in front of the lighthouse for walleye and on the opposite side for perch and panfish!

I remember years back watching a truck go in over by the restaurant. I think there had to be a spring, as at the time, we were on 2ft of ice. Also, I remember the ice out towards the deeper area, sort of south/southwest of the launch was always last to freeze. So would not want to take my kid on the atv in areas that could be suspect. I gotta believe, by now, the whole lake has the 8-12 on it.

I have just heard in the last few years that it was slow out there. When I was in high school, we always did decent (in certain spots). Thx for the info.
